Mountain Dulcimer
3rd Thursday 3:30
A Dulcimer Learning Club! Finally!
Reno has never had a Dulcimer Club before, so LET’s DO THIS!
The Dulcimer is a lap held instrument with 3 or 4 strings that include a drone string, so we only have to deal with 2 fingers on the finger board! EASY!
We’ll take it slow and learn together! Simple tuning and fingering on simple songs. Will be an interesting, fun experience for all!
A booklet for the Club will be supplied, then we’ll get a full on book with lots of songs to play!
If you need a Dulcimer, we have a few for rent and for sale. Stop by and check them out if you’re curious!
4th Thursday 4:30
Come on and play, sing and enjoy your favorite Folk, Bluegrass and Golden Oldies!
This NEW Acoustic Americana Jam is right up your alley because it’s open to WHAT YOU WANT TO PLAY,,,as long as it’s one we can all sing and play together. Instrumental soloing, harmony singing encouraged! No originals or obscure songs to keep it flowing. If most of us don’t know it, then we probably won’t play it!
Hosted by Cindy Gray, of The Sierra Sweethearts, is a fantastic musician and marvelous teacher who you’ll really learn a lot from. This is surely a welcome jam to have we’re excited to the moon! So gather up your favs and let’s make music!
OPEN Bluegrass Jam
4th Thursday 6:00
Bluegrass is known for it high lonesome sound, it’s energy, and beloved acoustic instruments like the mandolin, dobro and fiddle. We’re in love with it…surprise!
In this new OPEN BG Jam, you should have a good supply of MEMORIZED Bluegrass singin’ songs and instrumental tunes, and/or be able to follow the changes. This is a STANDARD Bluegrass Jam, not a learning or guided jam so Bluegrass Etiquette — aka “The Ten Jammandments”— will be followed.
If you’re looking for more of a beginning level jam, try the Acoustic Americana Jam, 4 to 6pm (right before this jam) on the 4th Thursdays.
You can take the traditional breaks or pass, either way this is a NO JUDGEMENT arena. We’re here to have fun!
Even if you’re not a player just come and partake of the friendly camaraderie and inspiration. Certainly a high point of what goes on around here!
Let's DO THIS!
All jams are genre specific and put on to support players and students to help learn for their collective enjoyment as well as to help preserve this great heritage music for generations to come.
We kindly ask for a small 5 bit donation at the door which helps us
keep the lights on and TP in the restrooms.
