Rick Sparks

RickRick Sparks lives in Virginia City and has been in the music business for over 40 years. ( he won’t let you count past that) In addition to his smooth vocals, he is equally at home playing banjo, guitar, mandolin, dobro and pedal steel guitar.  He has developed a reputation as an outstanding teacher on all of his instruments and has over 30 students under his wing.

Rick is a prominent Teacher at Mountain Music Parlor as well as a familiar face in the Reno music scene. He performs regularly with his current bands, Richochet and Westwind, playing pedal steel guitar and Dobro on their country favorites and banjo and guitar on their bluegrass material.

Rick also performs in the long time band Southwestern Pilgrimage with his wife Karen and old friends Randy Brooks, writer of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, and Rod Phillips, who over the years has also toured with Jim Stafford and Michael Martin Murphy.

Having performed over the years on stages with The Osmonds, Porter Waggoner, Glen Campbell and Michael Martin Murphy, Rick is also a Wernick Method Jam Instructor, hosting classes throughout the country.
